Privacy Policy

ForgeChat is a messaging app developed by Forge Group, an independent software company. This policy explains what information ForgeChat handles and what you can do about it, written to be read — not to hide anything in fine print.

The current version of ForgeChat is a local prototype. Everything you create in it — your profile, chats, messages, images you pick, themes, gifts, alerts, and settings — is saved in your browser on your own device. There is no ForgeChat account database yet: no messages are transmitted to other people, and nothing you type is uploaded to ForgeChat servers.

On this device only: your display name and profile customisation; your contact-method settings; chats, messages and any images you actively select; your themes and appearance preferences; gift and alert history; your privacy and safety choices, including blocked and restricted people; and any reports you file within the app. Demo people included for testing contain fictional details and are clearly part of the sample data.

This version has no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, no cookies beyond the local storage needed for the app to work, and no access to your contacts or location. We do not profile you, we do not sell or share data — there is no server-side data to share — and nothing you do in ForgeChat is scanned in the cloud.

ForgeChat asks for nothing up front. The device photo picker opens only when you choose to add an image. Simulated calls and voice-message playback do not use your camera or microphone. This version does not request notification permission or any background access.

ForgeChat's content filters, blocking, muting, restricting and reporting run entirely on your device using your own settings. Nothing is sent to a moderation service and no one is profiled or diagnosed by these tools — they match against the categories you choose, and you can turn them off. A production moderation and review service is still required before real public communities launch, and we will disclose it here before it exists.

Only to make ForgeChat work on your device: to display your profile and chats, apply your themes and privacy choices, and remember what you changed between visits. It is not used for advertising, tracking, or model training of any kind.

Your data stays on your device until you remove it. From Settings you can download a JSON copy of everything ForgeChat stores (Download My Data), delete individual chats, or delete all ForgeChat data — also available publicly at the account deletion page. Because there is no server account, deletion is immediate and complete for this device; we cannot restore it, and it does not cover copies your browser or operating system may keep independently.

You control your information: export it, review it, change your privacy and safety settings, or erase it. If you have a privacy question or request that the app itself cannot answer, contact Forge Group at admin@forgegroup.world and we will respond.

ForgeChat is not directed at children, and this prototype version holds no server-side data about anyone. Before a production launch with accounts and public communities, appropriate age requirements and parental-consent handling will be documented in this policy.

Like any website, ForgeChat's web app is delivered by a hosting provider, which may process standard technical logs (such as your IP address and request details) when you load the app. That is the only server involvement in this version — no ForgeChat content or settings reach it.

Because your data never leaves your device, it is not exposed to server breaches; but browser storage is not encrypted, and anyone with access to your device or browser profile can read it. ForgeChat does not claim end-to-end encryption, identity verification, or guaranteed security in this version, and we will not make claims we have not implemented. Messaging apps deserve real, audited security — that comes with the production service, and this policy will be updated to describe it.

As ForgeChat gains accounts, real messaging, storage or moderation, this policy will be updated before those features reach you, and significant changes will be announced in the app. The date below always reflects the latest version.
